    Thoughts on this heifer?

What are you planning on doing with this heifer? If you plan on showing her in the commercial classes, I don't think she would be competitive. Why? From the pictures, she does not balance well, she is slick haired, pinched in her heart girth, course fronted, and masculine appearing in her head...

For Sale: Show Heifers (New Pics added)!!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I can see where some might think that the cows are kinda ugly, as these pics don't do them any justice. It doesn't help that the smokey cow is eating her boogers, and the pic makes her look like she has no ear.

    CARPE DIEM

Has anyone seen this bull? Where can I find pics of him?

    How do they look

An important thing that people must remember is that these are just pictures, and may not do justice to the calf, or may indeed give credit where credit is not due; however, when judging cattle, I picture in my head the calf at the given point in time, condition, and maturity as being in a show...

    College

I am sorry, I read the thread wrong, I thought you were asking about Livestock Judging Teams, not show teams. I apologize!

    College

I know that Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma has a pretty good judging team, but some tend to be more concerned with the "college lifestyle" rather than judging. Eastern in Wilburton, Oklahoma has a really good judging team, and both are located pretty close to Arkansas. Good Luck!

    what do you think

Never seen a spotted calf out of Angus X Charolais....Do you own the cow and bull? Just trying to figure out how you get a spotted calf when most, if not all I've seen have been smokey colored. Good luck with them!!

    Stiff Steer

You might consider a chiropractor... It worked really well for some folks I know, and it sure beats the heck out of surgery and cutting tendons.

    heifer?

Very nice!!I believe she is plenty long. Maybe some people might see her as shorter bodied because she has such a big hip. Personally, I think she is plenty long and very nice!

    Crissbred or Purebred?

I personally feel that in the show industry, the composite calf is more competitive in general. Don't get me wrong, there are awesome purebred cattle out there, but there just aren't enough great purebreds to compete against the crossbreds.

Bulls who throw hereford marked calves???

CPL, the first place where you argument is flawed is the fact that I sell show cattle, I don't show them. If there is a demand for a hereford marked calf, then that is what I will try to produce. It is a supply and demand type buisness. In what class the customer chooses to show the calf is...

    Sheep?

I know a way that really builds lower quarter on sheep and goats. It sounds goofy but works! I PROMISE! Take a tire and suspend it in the air, to where the tire is laying horizontal. take the rubber feed pan and put it in the middle of the tire. This not only forces the lamb to stand on his...

    Shorthorn vs. Hereford

I also agree that each breed has its place in the industry. If I had to pick just one, I would have to go with the Shorthorn. From my experience, there is more variation within the breed that allows the producer to choose different genetics in order to apply these cattle to various applications.
