    black or green ink?

I am new to registered cattle and fixing to tattoo my first calves as they hit the ground. When I bought my tattoo pliers it came with black ink. They were out of green and said they wouldn't be carrying it any more. So, my question to you old timers is will the black ink show up in an angus...

Well I have a question that has been buggin me lately. Does anyone know either by self weighing or by SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess), how much weight does an average calf gain on day 1? I usually wait till day 2 to weigh a calf because I like to let them be a calf on day 1. So I have been...

    fertilize

When do you really think it is too late to apply fertilizer in the spring? I have plenty of grass and doing rotational grazing. I didn't get my soil test result back as quick as I hoped and now I think if I fertilized I would be wasting my money as fescue will slow down here in month or so. I...

    corral panels

I use W W Livestock panels. Have been for 15 yrs. I used to use economy gates and panels that wrap up like paper when cattle or horses or pickup got into them. But since going to the heavy duty corral panels and gates, I don't have a gate or panel on the place with dent in them.. Well I do...

    liquid fertilizer

That is good info. How much did you use and what was the %N? How long did you leave cattle off? That might be a very feasable option on pasture in a rotational grazing setup. Spray as soon as you pull cattle off.

    liquid fertilizer

Does any one use a liquid fertilizer for pasture? I am dying to find something I could spray and mix with herbicide to do a 1 time pass to achieve both. Any thoughts?

    spring or fall

Great idea. Split herd up and have best of both worlds with half the number of bulls. That is why ask questions, always another view that makes you go hummm.... :compute:
