Lowline angus bull in pic - any good?

Maybe not. I used to be the first guy to poke fun at those small cattle types. Now that I am sort of in contact with some folks that raise mini herfs - by the way - if he is reading - you owe me some pics buckaroo! Met him through a horn question. They now run about 150 head of mini herfs...

I was actually thinking about a name change again - probably today or tomorrow - so I definitely WANT to hijack this thread. It is important to note that if you attempt to PM me from one of my old posts it WILL NOT get to me. You will need to use my new name. VanC - you are a manure disturber...

Help please?Pig weed in newly seeded field.

Hillsdown - if it has not headed out - there is no seed. So I guess it depends on when you cut it. Go early and big bales. Or, perhaps brush hog it and leave it. Anything underneath will still come up. If you are going to cut it - why not just pass over it once instead of several times...

R-CALF: Report Suggests Canada May Be Noncompliant

In fact I do believe we need to close the borders both ways. I would like to see it happen for at least 5 years - more is better. Unfortunately for us in this country it will not happen. And trust me - there are many up here who want to do that. As for taking BSE lightly - I still have several...

Help please?Pig weed in newly seeded field.

Manure always brings weeds. We did not feed our cows this stuff - they ate it from a bale pile that was two years or more older. We just let them have it. I suggest you ask your local fert seed and spray guy - he is far better for your situation than us folks here. If you decide to not do...

And why would you worry? Two to three weeks either side of the supposed due date. On top of that - she was bred XXXXX - who knows what day she actually was fertilized and settled? So, go fetch another coffee and a piece of toast - set out on the front step and enjoy the morning. Bez>

What would you breed her to?

See what you have started here? In all honesty - this animal is not a real show stopper - she will do fine in the field. Breed her to almost anything and you will be fine. Bez>

  Of course I would never have considered that possibility - simply because that would not be our method. Have a good one, Bez>

Help please?Pig weed in newly seeded field.

There will not be any seeds at all of you cut and bale before it heads out - so who cares what type of bale? Talk to your local ag rep yet - he might have some idea - broad leaf killer that does not harm Alfalfa? I never spray for that type of thing so I could not suggest without research...

R-CALF: Report Suggests Canada May Be Noncompliant

I am sure we are as pristine as you folks are. Which to the best of my knowledge is why you have never seen me write a "pointed finger" post on this subject. Unlike several here from both sides of the border. In the end I do not care. Lets just close the border and be done. That way you can...

This question is asked about 100 times a year. Here is the best and most truthful answer - unless you plan to do a C section. God and Mother Nature will tell you the date and time by the fact the calf is on the ground. No more and no less. Do a search for all the info you want right here on...

    Spraying Safety Equipment

Tips? Yup. And I will pass this on to all - because I am one of those old guys. Wear that eye protection and stop complaining. I got a buddy who cannot see because he did not. I was there and almost ended up the same way. Did you know doctors can actually give you a needle in the eye and then...

    Dove Season is looking good

Nope, no jest - we are overrun and I have never seen anyone shoot a dove. In fact I do not even know if there is a season for them here - highly doubt it. I could probably shoot them year round if I wanted. Some day I might have to cook one up - but we usually just take a couple of ducks...

    Foot rot

Everything you ever needed to know about this can be found in this book: http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp Well, you can put it in your chute and medicate. You can open the wound for drainage if you have a real bad case and then medicate. Have you got a book on animal medicine...

At what point would you give up?

Agreed - but at least the cash is there and the debt is not. As a businessman, you know the value of those two MAJOR issues. Better to build back with cash than struggle for years under debt. Bez>

    Stihl Chainsaw Question

You owned a 2100? Most folks today have never seen a saw that big - a frigging 99 cc motor and loud enough to wake my long dead Grandpop. I still have a couple of them in the shop. I picked one up the other day and cut a couple of pieces of wood. I cannot believe I used to swing that thing...
