    Weeds in the strawberries

Made a trip past the garden today and noticed that my strawberry patch is getting smothered by fescue, etc. What can I spray on it that will kill the grass but not my strawberries if anything? Thanks for the help. Boone

    sears .410

I was given the gun about 25 years ago and was told it was a Stevens(sp??). It works like a champ. Light and fun to shoot. No clip makes it a single shot which I like for my boys (10 yrs. old). Thanks, Boone

    sears .410

I have a Sears .410 bolt action shotgun model 101 1380. Any ideas on how old it might be and if there is any place I could find a replacement clip for it? Thanks, Boone

    bean canning question

I just did my first four quarts of green beans in the pressure cooker. When I took the jars out, a few of the beans were sticking out of the liquid. Will these still keep even though they aren't submerged? Thanks, Boone

    Oklahoma City

The Cowboy museum is a must see. I took my twins, who were 6 at the time, and we spent 6 hours and they were enthralled the entire time. Hopefully, they have started their annual Western art exhibit. The artwork will astound you. If you like baseball, see if the Redhawks are in town. They...

    hay question

An elderly woman at church whos husband recently passed away asked me a question & I am trying to get some opinions so I don't lead her astray. She has about 40 acres of fescue that a local fellow cuts, rakes, and bales, then takes the hay and pays her a share. Last year she got $6 for each 5...

Can anyone recommend a website that has a decent cow-calf budget example that applies to the midwest, Missouri in particular? Thanks, Boone

    diesel engine autotuners or chips

Just a word of caution on chips. The money you save on fuel economy will not even approach the money you will spend on repairs if you push it too far. My cousin has replaced his fuel pumping system twice at $1500 a pop due to chipping his Cummins. He's only 18 so he has time to learn I guess...

    Need Opinions on Grading

Haven't posted in a long time, but this one caught my eye. If the student is on the basketball team, I'm sure he was made aware of the fact that he had to pass his classes to remain eligible. I can remember helping other guys on the basketball team with their homework so they didn't become...

    Passed Away

Have not posted in a long time, but saw the news of Lloyd's passing and felt compelled to log on. Only posted back and forth a couple times, but he proved in those few contacts to be a real gentleman. Rest in peace to a good human being, Boone

    big calves

Had someone trying to prove a young Charolais bull's worth by giving us a few free straws of semen. First 2 calves weighed 95 and 120 :o respectively. I nominate the second cow for mother of the year after that delivery. No such thing as a free lunch. Boone

What is the best implement for handling and loading big square bales on a flatbed trailer? Boone

    Biodiesel from chicken fat

I saw something the other day about making ethanol and it compared using corn and switchgrass of all things. Apparently switchgrass is a more efficient source than corn. Don't remember where I saw it. Did anyone else see this that could remind me so I could go back and read some more? Boone

    I'm baaack!

Dun, my comments were of course in jest. Seems like the govt. takes a ho hum attitude toward the destruction in the middle of the country. Boone

    Transferring farm to next generation

Does anyone have experience or suggestions on a practical way to go from the older generation owning and operating the farm to the older generation owning and the younger generation running the operation? Lots of cousins, uncles, etc. Boone

    I'm baaack!

The place just isn't the same without you. When can I expect to see you on the national news talking about how the government is screwing you? Do you have a good spot for the new doublewide that FEMA is bringing?? Boone

    Bill O'Reilly needs a muzzle

I don't know one way or the other, but I did find it strange that Shawn very seldom made eye contact with his mother during the Oprah interview. Almost like he was closer to the step-father than his own mother. Makes you wonder. Boone

    Some Red angus Cows(pics)

DOC, Indeed some good info on that website. Maybe you can answer a couple questions I have about same. If they are 99.8% Friesian, how did they end up black? I thought Friesians are colored about the same as a Holstein. Secondly, why is this breed not mentioned in Irish A.I. catalogs, and why...
