    I got a Bull reminder

Sorry to hear. Prayers offered. It can happen in a blink of an eye. A horned cow rubbed me all up and down the side of my pick up a few years ago. I was sore for 2 or 3 days afterwards. the truck still has the scars.

    Side by Side

I searched and test drove most that were mentioned here about a year ago. Settled on a Mahindra 1000 diesel. We use it all over the farm...feeding cows, hauling equipment, running thru creeks and woods, etc. It's holding up really nice. If you get a chance test drive one.

    Internet cattle?

Do you buy or sell cattle online? I usually buy from local folks that I know. Just curious if anybody has had bad/good experiences with online cattle. I'll add that I'm old enough to remember no internet, cell phones or more than 3 TV stations, so I might be an "old foagee" :cboy:

    Building the herd up opinions?

I just feel more comfortable buying experienced replacements than putting money and time into raising heifers. Adding in, changing the bull out constantly is also a pain. Also I usually buy them from a local rancher that we've known for years and have seen his operation and genetics.

    Building the herd up opinions?

Thanks for the opinions. I think I'll do what smart husbands do and compromise :bang: she can keep one or two heifer calves and I will buy a couple of replacements. This forum has really got a lot of helpful information...glad we found it.

    Building the herd up opinions?

We have a few head and just bought 11 more pairs. Heifers are 2 years old and calves are 8 weeks. The wife wants to increase the herd some more and thinks retaining the heifer calves is the best way. I say sell all the calves in the fall and buy a few more pairs for a couple of years would be...

    Good udder???

When looking at heifers or cows to purchase, what should I look for in the udder department? Any pics of good versus bad would be helpful. I'm thinking a uniform spacing would be adequate but I will admit I may not be covering all the bases. Help!

Do you have a sound Will?

Gotta chime in on this one. I just spent the last year and half dealing with a deceased parents estate that was located 12 hours away. The "will" was jotted down on notebook paper the morning he passed away in the hospital. Two old "friends" helped him write it. Thankfully the judge just grinned...

Pros and cons on 4 and 5 year olds.

I'm looking at about 20 head of Brangus 4 and 5 year old pairs, calves average 350 to 400. They've been bred back so mostly will be 3N1. We have a few now and there is room for them. My wife recently retired. She would like to add some more to the pasture, and says she has the time. I've never...
