    Time to start stockpiling

Why do you use Urea instead of ammonia nitrate? I used to think Urea was better incorporated and ammonia better on top of the ground, but I'm no expert

    Time to start stockpiling

The problem is that cattle will walk off your nutrients..... like graze a while then go stand in the shade or the pond taking their manure and urine with them. That's why I like moving them quickly and clipping at least a couple times a year to put all that residue back down. I think it's...

what should I pay a friend with a goosneck to haul 10 steers to the sale?

Just hand him a $100 bill .....if he takes it ,,,,good..... if he don't then its still good. If he feels that is not enough ....he can tell you then. I have the exact same situation with a friend of mine Or take him to an expensive steakhouse.

    Transitioning to grass-fed

Omega 6 has to do with inflammation.....a little inflammation is good at times, but not all over your body all the time. Wild caught Salmon is about 1:1 omega 6 to Omega 3....i heard Gabe Brown say that their grass finished beef is very close to the same ratio as Salmon.

    Transitioning to grass-fed

I am going to plant some pearl millet and crabgrass and possibly a couple other species here in a few weeks to finish a steer on this summer. i think the problem with most grass finished beef is its processed to soon...it has to get mature before it can put on much fat. i processed a bull last...

So please tell me, who's getting rich on the cow?

Its not about fossil fuel....how much is left......they could make engines to run on water, but there would be no money in it...so the technology never sees the light of day.

    Frosty Berseem

I havent but i did try some Fixation Balansa clover and it was a pure failure...might work fine in worked up ground but not in a perinnial pasture.

    Summer Garden 2022

I'm just going to use either landscape fabric or mulch with alfalfa hay...if you went the chemical route you could use roundup or paraquat i guess. The produce is supposed to be more nutrient dense with no-till.

Cattle people/ farmers are getting old.

Back in the day when i was a teenager in FFA class....the FFA creed said in part "I believe in the future of farming, better days thru better ways" that was the future of farming, planting corn from fence row to fence row as we were told, because we needed to "feed the world". We plowed and...

On the rare occasion i have to bottle feed one, either they have never nursed or haven't nursed in 2 or 3 days and they can't seem to learn how to suck on the bottle...they just want to waller it around in their mouth....how do you learn them?

    Sludge as pasture fertilizer

My Dad was a Korean veteran...he said they told them not to eat the local vegetables, but they could eat the local fruit from fruit trees.....everything was fertilized with human waste...the vegetable plants would take up the pathogens, but the fruit trees wouldn't. That's what he told me once.

    Investing in Gold or Silver

Exactly right .....even in a safe deposit box, if the bank is closed, you can't get in to it. grow your own food as much as possible, get out of debt...thats probably the best 'currency' in a crash and burn.
