    Thank you

Crowder I didn't have any problems with our partnership it's just that my F/L and the neighbor are old enough they're not going to spend thousands of dollars to put up fence. Believe me I have thought a lot on my decision. Some things just don't work out as you wish.

    Thank you

I just want to take this chance to thank all of you for most of the posting you do. I have learned a wealth of information through this sight, much so I don't think I would have learned without being here. With that said I informed my father-inlaw last week I was ready to sell and get out of the...

    Lease Dilemma

If I had leased the bull from someone I wouldn't expect any kind of refund or another bull as I would take it as my fault for not haveing adequate fencing to keep him where he belonged. I also would have had the cows and bull in just one small pasture away from any other cows and not roaming the...

    Water Line Question

Once they started talking temps of 32 degrees or lower I'd be worrying and getting it drained. You know water freezes at that temp so why try to push your luck. Temps freezing or below drain it.

    pinewood derby cars

All of your weight should be towards the rear of the car. Make the axles where only three of the wheels are touching with one of the front wheels not touching.

    How To Cook a Steak

Peg my sentiments exactly. When I go out to eat and the waitress asks what type of steak sauce I would like I inform her if I have to ask for steak sauce then you know the steak isn't good.

    Good or bad deals?

If the cow your friend bought is as tempermental as you describe I'd have to say bad deal on that one. The herford I'd say dood deal provided she produces calves for ya. The picture of the calves looks strange to me for some reason but if they're as big as they appear I'd say good deal. As far...

    Delayed twin?

I had a cow that was showing all the signs of being ready to drop her calf this past Friday evening. I went back to where she was Saturday and found a really small calf that was dead. No cow around just a couple of buzzards. The calf had been licked clean at least on the side it wasn't lying on...

    Banding - Too Young??

I band as early as possible and have banded several before they were completely dry from being born. Just make sure you feel two and do it. Much easier to band a calf that is only a few hours old and doesn't have a clue whats going on than older one thats got that don't come near me complex.

    Steel Toed Footware

I wear steel toed boots at work because it is required by my job. Remember steel toes are rated to protect for a weight up to 75lbs. falling from a maximum height of 3 feet. I saw an episode of mythbusters where they tried to recreate an amputation of the toes by dropping different weights from...

    Banding Question

The cherrio bands are recommended for calves weighing up to 150 pounds. If they are reaching this or are over that weight I'd go a different route.

    Shame

I read this board everyday but post very little. I only respond to what I know has worked for me and nothing else. I have learned a great deal and continue to learn. That being said I think there is to much emphasis put on someone being a guru relating to the number of post made. Anyone can come...

    heaven or ?

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these...

    Fence Charger

Just remember when you go to fence that much acreage the wire you decide on is almost as critical as the charger. Use to small gauge of wire and by the end of the run you'll have lost a lot of your shock power. I would use a strand of 12ga. hi-tensile minimum anywhere I could. Going with the...

    Little League World Series

I watched all the games I could catch on tv. I coached in little league from the beginning of my sons playing till he entered high school. I also umpired for several years. I did see the game that new york had the little mishap in. I don't think it should be overrated as it was just the...

spraying this late in the year

It is recommended to spray in the spring or fall because this is when plants are actively growing. However if the plant has reached it's maturity then most of the growing has ceased. Spraying will probably kill any weed that is still small and growing down low to the ground but if it's already...

    Something Discouraging...

The problem around here is when a farm is sold(at auction) it goes in tracts and usually has a subdivision on it in the next year or two. I can't even remember when the last time a farm sold as a whole. It won't be but a few years and there will only be a handful of farms here. Doesn't matter if...
