    Navicular Horse

New farrier cut almost 1/2 inch of hoof off all the way around. But didn’t change the angles. He then put on a different bar shoe with some mesh fabric. Then used Equi-Pak and filled the whole sole and frog up to the level of the bottom of the hoof. Can you tell me if this is a glue on shoe...

    Navicular Horse

Actually we had both our horses diagnosed by two different vets from different clinics. One said it in those exact words-yes, young and in a teaching hospital, one said it differently with same meaning. I also thought what a dumb thing to say. It was very disturbing and has stuck with me. We...

Interesting comments - I did not realize that posts were being made. For those that do not know what Adequan is - Adequan Equine Proven to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis, Adequan (POLYSULFATED GLYCOSAMINOGLYCAN) breaks the destructive disease cycle, inhibits cartilage damage and...

    Navicular Horse

These horses do not have upright pasterns. They do have very good bloodlines. Both were bought young. Because of the Quarter horse make up. Both were predisposed to Navicular. They have done a lot for us and out of site, out of mind was not meant the way it sounds. They will always be in...

    Navicular Horse

Alan - Totally understand what you are saying. I feel the battle is expensive and not a winning situation. I was just curious as to what other people have done. Navicular seems to be so common now that someone must own one. Hard to go out there every day and seeing the lameness or not seeing...

    Navicular Horse

NO founder. The comments made are 1- Quarter Horse with small feet - 2 - if x-rays were seen prior to seeing the horse would not think much of it. 3- because being a Quarter Horse the diagnose is severe. This is the second horse this year of ours to be diagnosed and by two different vets...

Calf eating and drinking like mom

Our one calf born on 6/26/07 is eating hay -and drinking a lot of water. A lot to me being a small hobby farm and never seeing the babies drink so much water, just like like older cows was something I got to thinking about this morning. I was wondering if this is ok, she is very health and...

    Question

Old Belle - She must be five or six. Always remember these large teats and always having to help the calf nurse first time or two. She also pushes her back end out a lot during her pregnancy and is always giving birth a day later each year. We have discussed getting rid of her.

    Question

She got it figured out. My husband worked with baby and mom and she must have been starving and finally started nursing. She is definitely big enough to get on those banana teats. She just had to get down under them. Also, yep taken a big dump. Thanks for the help.

    Question

The cow and calf are in a small area with the other cow and calf that we have. She does seem not so smart. The cow is trying to get her to nurse. She just wants to suck on everything but what is going to feed her.

    Question

We had a calf born last night at 10:30 p.m. This morning the calf is very strong. But.......It sucks on everything except the mother's teat. Has this calf eaten because of the strength it has or would it still be that strong after birth? We have tried to get the calf to the cow and and spray...

    Question - New Mom

Yes - it does that continually also. It was just my son who is 10 and I watching this and her saliva dripping all over and we were trying to move the calf and the mom was just nuts drinking her pee and UGH! I was hoping this was not some awful fetish of hers and not normal. Than again, sorry...

    Question - New Mom

We had a calf born last week Tuesday - The calf would only nurse off 3 teats. The 4th one we cleaned out on Friday and the calf is now nursing on all 4. We did start Penicillin on the calf for 4 days. All seems to be well. The weird thing and we have not seen before is when the calf pee's...
