    Anyone raising Shorthorns?

    We raise purebred and commercial Shorthorns here in Saskatchewan. We sure like the hybrid vigour we get from breeding Charolais to the Shorthorn cow. Also seems to be good demand for blue roan heifers.

    Sorry tamarack I likely had the picture too big, hope this one works on your computer. MURIDALE SIZZLE 12Z He goes back to Cumberland Gay Lad on the sire side , Lad is a bull from the 1960's. His mother is by Saskvalley Bonanza.

    Of that 1.6 million head that you are down, 100,000 head died in the blizzard in South Dakota last fall. Is that still " good" or is it someones pain is someones gain?

    Shorthorns

    We have had Shorthorns here ever since My Great Grandfather homesteaded here. Haven't had much reason to change to another breed. This picture is of some Shorthorn X Red Angus heifers sired by our bulls. I think they are going to grow into some pretty good cows.

    Shorthorn Bull

    Randi glad to hear the bull is working good for. We sure like his grandsire, Bonanza, he will be going out to work this spring at 11 years old. Here is a picture of him taken a couple years ago.

    Checking cattle pictures

    Taurus, yes the pictures are of Shorthorns. The Two red heifers are Shorthorn x Red Angus and the 2 black(blue) heifers are Shorthorn x Black Angus.
