Stupid question alert ... I know a water bag when I see it, I really do. I was tending to a calf that was abandoned by his mother and noticed that a water bag was showing on another cow. After giving 'Shishkabob' his bottle, I went to check on the cow -- very excited to witness yet another...

I know, it's totally corny! But I'm just on cloud 9 that after all this time, I finally was able to catch a birth from water bag to calf. :D My husband thinks I'm crazy, but oh well. We had two in the barn, separated out for butchering - that's why we bought them, to turn them around...

I give those dates and ages with caution... they lived else where and I don't know their exact calving dates, just what the previous owner remembers. But they were definitely not a year old before they came to live here in August.
