there is a new thread on the Article Section on the CattleToday Front Page about "Haymaster Nutrition Injection System" to treat old hay bales. I thought it was a great enough idea to bring it to the attention of all of you. Might keep you from having to cull some females, that are really too good to get rid of, because of poor hay harvest this year. Has anyone tried this method before?

I havent tried it, but I have a neighbor who takes old round bales that no one wants, (most people give him the hay) and he buys liquid feed supplement and he will place the bale on it's end and pour a 5 gallon bucket of the liquid feed all over the bale and it runs into the bale and he winters holstein steers on this. I dont think it would be enough food value for cow/calf pairs, but it works for holstein steers

Doc...,
We have looked at this system. It is appealing but, cost prohibitive.

We must not mistake the effort of making the hay more palatable and ignore the nutrient needs.

I beleive it would work. Anyone have a unit to answer a few questions about it?
