These calves need to have free access to a good, balanced, mineral mixture. They're likely missing some nutrient in their diet and trying to get it from the wood.

> wood. I put mineral in the calves feed plus they have it free choice also. It`s a good balanced mineral.
Im not sure its related to your problem but theres a light pole in one of my pastures that all the calves stand around and lick. Year after year. Its the only one they bother out of several. They stop at about 6 mo. old.The cows dont bother to even look at it.
