Winter Garden

Help Support CattleToday:

There is no rhyme or reason for what I do. Think it might have something to do with the phase of the moon but lately I've been laying off the rows with the planter then putting the bulbs down along the line then taking the cultivator and just plowing some dirt on top of them. But most of the time I just stick them by hand in soft dirt.

I am taking it now... I even got one of those patches that you stick on your back and heats up... I set maybe about 150 of them ... then i just drop them and covered with dirt lol I couldnt do the whole 5 lbs just about 3.5lbs of them. I couldn't take it gave the rest away to a neighbor lol

Gardens looking good!

5 lbs is a bunch of onion sets. I put up 3 gallons of peas this week and think in spite of Aleve I'll just let the rest stay on the bushes. Do need to pick some more butterbeans but they aren't ready yet so I'll worry about that later. I really need to put out the turnips and the mustard but I've just been too busy and too tired when I have the time.

Thanks Jogeephus.I am so freaking sore its ridiculous today.. Not to mention my kids have given me the cold they both had. I have been super busy myself cutting raking baling hay... cutting corn... discing corn stalks under.. getting ready to plant winter wheat.. I totally understand... I only got a few peas before the drought took them out with a quickness thats my favorite vegetable.

Really, you will feel better. This was recommended by an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine. Our aches and pains are frequently caused by or exacerbated by inflamation. Ibruprophen (advil/motrin) is the best non-prescription anti-inflamatory on the market, but is a lousy analgesic. Acetominophen (tylenol) is best non presciption analgesic on the market, but does nothing to reduce inflamation. I've tried the other NSAID's like aleve, and... (that other one I can't remember the name of, :help: )...they don't work nearly as well as the above combination. Been taking it for about 20 years now and it works like a charm. You can reduce the ibuprophen to 600 mg, if you prefer, but I have rhumatoid arthritis so I tend to stick with the higher dosage of anti-inflammatory.

That is good to know. I definately need that info for next spring when I plant again lol... or this weekend when I pick salad.

I may give that a try too. I'm in pain every minute of a day. Sometimes more sometimes not. They want to put me under the knife but I don't want them touching me again. I got some good pain meds but so far I've only taken one but boy does it do the trick. What has saved me thus far has been the magician who calls himself a chiropracter. His magic has kept me going.

My neck tends to get messed up for a while after long periods on a tractor looking back .. everyone told me go to chirapractor and i didnt think they were any good maybe i will give them a try. I just cant pop my neck the way it needs to be popped feels like a not in my neck.

I never thought it was real medicine either but my guy is simply amazing. He's old school. He can simply touch my body and know where the pain is without my telling him a thing. The tractor kills me. Mine will get so bad I lose use of my right arm. I've been in his office literally in tears and left as though I was a spring chicken. He is good too in that he will bow out and refer you to a specialist if he can't help you but so far he has done wonders for me but I don't know what I'm going to do if I outlive him.

It started here around 8pm last night, and just quit at 7am. Now were up an inch for the last 4 weeks.
Hard to believe 50 miles is so far when it comes to rain. Sure glad for what we got.

It's been raining nice and light for the last 3 days here. I am glad I should be able to see my newly planted mustard and spinach by this sunday.
