I have about 25 acres that currently gets planted in row crop every year, (corn and beans). I have been thinking of planting a mix of something to cut as hay every year before the crops go in. Any suggestions?
I would plant in the fall, somewhere around first September to first of November or so. And would probably have till around first or second week in May to cut hay. This land is generally divided 1/2 corn 1/2 soybeans so these dates could fluctuate depending on what crop is planted on which half. I am thinking it will only be a 1 cut deal so I don't want to get to pricey, but don't just want it to set dormant in the cooler seasons either. I plan to eventually convert some of it to pasture but just not right now.Kingfisher":2fnywglh said:How long of a growing "season" would you have?
