Is it the same thing as a red swiss??? Sounds kinda like a dumb question but the dairy we got this calf from says no.

I don't know much about dairy breeds. This calf is jet black and looks more like an Angus/HolX. The dairyman says noooo he's a hol/swedish red X.

Can anyone explain this to me. My daughter tried to look it up and the only website that she found was swedish so we still don't know.

I hate not knowing these things

Its a dairy breed that alot of dairies are using as a tool in crossbreeding programs to add more longevity and fertility to their herds. F1's are typically black and a little less white on average than just straight holsteins.

Thank you soooo much for the information. My Grandson wants to learn more about the breed in case he is asked by a judge about his calf.
He is a hearty little buggar.

Here is my grandson's swedish red hol X market calf.
He came tearin around the house as I was taking pics of the other calf and I just happened to turn around and snap him.
These calves are really doing well for day olds. They are a week old today.
