Well winter has arrived with a vengeance, woke up at 5:30 am and found out it was -25c and with the wind chill ot was -35c brrrrrr. Definitely not used to this. I thankfully got everyone bedded down yesterday so at least they get nice warm straw to lay on. I don't know how I am going to ration feed though in these really cold temps, with cows due to start calving the first of Jan.

I let the Kit Kat and the dogs out this morning, the dogs came back right away but the Kit Kat found a mouse and was playing with in the drive way. After calling him for 20 minutes he finally came in, but his right ear was frozen.. I warmed it up with my fingers and then my cheek , it is still sore and swollen now so I sure hope he doesn't lose it. :( he has never frozen them before , very strange. Silly cat, just like a little kid, too busy playing and not paying attention that he was getting cold. Maybe now he will run out and do his business and run back in right away. I would put a little toque on him, but knowing him ,he would probably get hung up on something and strangle himself.

Well off to pick up a steer that I had butchered, it is supposed to start snowing again so I want to be off the hi way by then.

Stay warm all..

got on the four wheeler and went to the back pasture to check the cattle this morning.
liked to froze solid and sfter finding everything ok, i decided it was too danged cold and went and got back in the pickup and turned on the heater full blast and it's showed 29 degrees.
can't wait for summer

18 degrees here with a 15- 20 mph breeze making it flat feel cold....Was down to 5 Above last night-- and supposed to be below zero for the next few nights...

But they are still predicting temps back up in the 30's and 40's by the end of next week :D

:P Guess you don't have to hurry to get it in the freezer before it thaws.

I just got thru wrapping up the pump and putting a heat lamp on it. Had some house* plants (to many critters to move inside) Hung a tarp in the shop to make a tent and put a work light under. 48 degrees now but supposed to get down to 24 tomorrow. Cows aren't to happy because they have only been getting hay since the rain Sunday. Sloppy wet. Forgot what it was like. Got them all in one group now and that is just making it worse.

26 this a.m. Not sure now but the wind has died down some. It was blowing like crazy. The snow didn't stick yesterday and it only came for a short bit. Some sleet too but not much.

Things are sure different now than what they are in July in "my little corner of Texas" :D

Our earliest snowfall on record was Dec. 11 2008 predicting snow tomorrow , thank goodnees for this global warming or we would freeze to death. They are predicting 22 for here. Grandson coming in tomorrow to go hunting with Pa Pa and I have a forty degree rule. If it is under forty degrees I don't need to be hunting this boy is the only one I would break this for.

We had low 20's this morning with a north wind. Was supposed to get into the mid-30's today. Teens tonight, mid-30's again tomorrow and then a warmup to highs in the 50's for the weekend.

My outside plants are in the basement with a grow light for the winter. No pot plants like vette, though, just some boring old asparagus ferns and aloe vera and such.

15 degrees F right now at 5pm.... BRRRRRR

We've got a inch or two of snow on the ground, about an hours drive to the north where our cattle are, they received about 6-7 inches. Luckily we had put out plenty of hay for the herd!

November was practically balmy here which was really weird. I can only hope we have a mild winter!
(fat chance!)

ps. You folks in Texas, your weather is best described as MANIC-DEPRESSIVE!! otta put it on PROZAC! :lol2:

Pretty savvy use of words there backhoe! Your communication skills are improving! :D I'm in t-shirts that I have to change out 2 or 3 times a day from sweating and wearing shorts under my snake leggings here in "my little corner of Georgia."

It was 36 when I got up this morning. It's 39 now but supposed to be in the upper 20s in the morning. I hate cold!

its 40 here going down to 28 tonite.they say we will be 21 sat morning.if its that cold i may not make it to the yearly bull sale.

Sounds like most of us are in the deep freeze, 20 cm's to fall tonight and tomorrow , we sure need it and it should bring the temps up some.

I made it home safe with my steer, the roads are still crappy from the last snow storm and melt, some were shear ice, it took me an hour longer than it should have to travel the 150 miles.

Kit Kat's ears swelling has gone down some and he went out for 2 minutes tonight, poor guy. I really am not looking forward to training a puppy in the middle of winter..

GA that is just not fair, it is like putting salt in a wound.

BTW, I would rather wear snow boots than snake leggings any day..
