Drone bee larvae dipped in honey. :nod: I had an old russian beekeeper show me that one and tried it and have to admit it was pretty tasty. I don't do it very often but will pop a few now and then when I'm run down doing bee work.

I'm Irish, German and Norwegian, so I like a ton of weird stuff, including but not limited to pickled herring, sardines (love the ones in mustard), any kind of oysters (love the smoked ones though), liver sausage (called braunsweiger up here), wild game (especially bear meat), squab (pigeon, like a little chicken), ect. The cultural food I could never get into is lutefisk....no fish should jiggle like Jello!!!! :yuck:

You mean the lutefisk? If so, look up videos on the stuff! Its made by treating cod with LYE. It is a slimy opaque white that actually wiggles and jiggles!!! Up here, the young people will get together and have nut (yes, RM oysters) feeds at the bar, and often do the same for a bear feed. The older people get together for a lutefisk dinner.....

Here's something I saw and just had to try.. Tamarind candy.. Tamarind is one of my favorite spices (Think HP sauce, worchestershire sauce).. unfortunately they are only very mildly flavored.

Boot, I agree. I am of Swedish decent and love most any sea food but draw the line at lutefisk. Mountain oysters if done right are almost as good as the saltwater ones.

I try almost anything, rattlesnake is good, coon and possum are greasy and so is bear. Gather wild mushrooms all the time.

Kenny, have you had a young bear? I think the younger they are, the less greasy they are. We ate a yearling female when I was in high school, and she was pretty lean and tasty. I've never had coon or possum, always heard they were greasy....tried to feed a dead one or two to the hogs as a kid and even they wouldn't eat it, so I never was willing to find out for my self!

If there's anything on this planet greasier than possum I don't know what it is. Don't partake of it myself, but have been to people's homes that did and you can smell the nasty thing cooking before you even knock on the front door.
Had some bear when I was young that someone had brought back from Alaska. Not nearly as greasy as what I saw of possum.

Years ago I worked with a guy that would occasionally bring leftover chittlins for lunch. When he'd get them warm on a hotplate I'd have to leave the room. I don't know how anyone could eat something that smells that bad.

Just recently discovered what this was. Have a young lady at work from the Phillipines. I thought she was pulling my leg until she told me she has around 300 Phillipinos in The local community that get together once a month and would pay 5 to 6 bucks a piece for one. I started trying to track down some ducks!!!

I use to eat brains every morning till I found out the cholesterol content in them now its only a once in a while thing.

My grandma made fish head soup. Was sort of weird having a big king salmon eye staring up out of you bowl. But I ate a lot of it as a kid.
