Why is it that when I look at producers websites and sales, I see a yearling weight of anywhere from 1000 lbs to 1200 lbs, but my neighbors ~16 month old calves weighed in under 900 lbs? I know he only grains his for about 30 days, but I just wonder why there's such a big discrepancy.

Thanks

and genetics

Lack of feed and bad genetics.
That is about a pound and a half a day that is not even good for all grass much less feed.
I hate to mention another factor, fudging figures

I can't figure out how he has that light of weight in that time.
Unless it is weather related somehow.
I could buy a 1000 at 480 days but 800 is mighty light in my book.

feed an bloodlines.people i know keep their bulls on self feeders up to a point.
