Heifer calves weaning weight

What is a acceptable weaning weight for first time heifer calves ? I usually wean my calve between 7-8 months old and on average wean around a 575 lb calf. I have a group of first time heifer calves that Iam going to wean and they will be 6-7 months old. What would you think they should weigh ? Plan on weaning them at the end of the month and I guess right now they average 400 lbs.
 
That's pretty good for first time mamas in my book, are you going to wean them and feed em this winter?

Ya plan on it. I have a group of 12 and all but two or steers. There a pretty uniform set of calves.
 
I have to double check paperwork but ours were I think 581 @ 205 no adjustment for dams age last year. I want them 1250 at calving so we got 420 days to gain 675# pretty easily and cheaply done
 
I have 12 heifers born Jan/Feb, and 1 born 3-6.
Their 2nd workup was done on 8-1-19. They averaged 180 days old and averaged 526# - adjusted to 205 was 600# average.
Two of these heifers were out of two-year olds. They had actual weights of 520 & 550# - adjusting to 573 and 613# for 205. No adjustment for age of dam or sex on any of these 205 days figures.
So, the 2-yr old calves were only 7# lighter when calculating 205 day weight. This is a very small sampling (2 out of 12)

Your calves may be heavier than you think, if your calves run in that 575# range.
My very top end calves will generally run about 100# per months of age. 205 is 6.8 months, so I do have a couple that come close to that (681# & 672# 205 day weight). Easier for top end males to hit that mark - LOL
