We fly tagged and wormed cows today. Weaned some of the oldest calves. They didn't all come up so still a few more to go hopefully within the next few days we can get them pulled off too. Most of these calves are by our Hereford, a Boyd Ft. Knox son. We are pretty happy with his calves and will likely keep several of the heifers.

Mmmm, nice calves. Nice barn too. Looks like it has a solid floor in the hay loft. Do you keep them locked in the barn during the weaning process?

Thanks, yes it's solid it was designed to hold either baled hay or ear corn. There are door on the ends and one in the middle, also a hole cut in the floor to drop hay down but I nailed some boards over that after falling through it years ago.
I usually leave them up in the barn for a week or so till they stop bawling and aren't apt to walk themselves sick. This group is eating good and should transition pretty fast.
