Warts

Six month old heifer with warts on her nose. Warts have
Continued to grow specifically in her nose and begun to spread up her head. Administered vet supplied wart vaccine, warts have slowed, but not drying or falling off. Vet suggests cutting them off. Recommendations please .

I have a few 6 to 12 month old calves with warts. Some pretty bad. I just ignore them and they go away after so long. I have heard if you cut one off and make them eat it they will go away faster.

As a dear old member on here named Dun used to say "benign neglect." I usually get a handful every year that show up with some warts around weaning time. They will go away on their own in a few weeks, and will never know they had them.

Vaccine, cut them off and feed them, just mash them with pliers, or leave them alone. In a few months it will all turn out pretty much the same.

I had a few cows with them as well. As everyone has stated, they go away with time. Good free choice mineral may help speed up the process.

I've never really had a problem with them but this year a few of our weaned calves have them and one with a big 2 inch one on its neck its weird.
