With cattle, not much of an issue as long as there is a good fence.

Don't forget the rule of relative distance.

The probability of cows getting out and misbehaving are directly proportional to the distance that is traveled away from them.

For example:
1 miles away = 1% more probability of escape or escapades.
10 miles away = 10% more
500 miles away = 500% more

Don't ask me how they know, but they do....

Seems like the Sheriff's deputy only calls when I am at work which disagrees with your statements. However, if there is any truth to your statements, I better watch out because I have defied the odds.

I personally think some of you are making too big a deal about this. Overall it's a low risk/low gain proposition. Tncattle you have a pretty good idea if you want to mess with it. Shoot him a figure; if it works out fine; if not, you're young chalk it up as a cost for education.

I'm not really looking to make a bunch of money but will gather good experience and make a few more contacts in the cattle business.

If gaining experience and contacts is your reason, ask him what he thinks is fair and go with that. I'd make sure that you aren't held liable in any way if something goes wrong, though.
