Do you remember when we had the discussion about the merits of Vetricyn Solution? My daughter had told me that a person could make it themselves and I found the info about it. This is the recipe for Dakin's Solution which is basically the same as Vetricyn. Dakin's Solution was created during WWI to treat infected wounds. It has a short shelf life. I think that the people who market Vetricyn added something to increase the shelf life, otherwise it is very similar.

I just recently found out about this product:

It is said to be better than the Vetricyn, you can do almost anything with it, and it is all natural! A quart is about $20, and you dilute it 10 to 1 in most cases. My students had to do a report on a new animal science product, and this one was a new one for me! I might try this one! Gets rid of mold in the bathroom (thinking shower curtain?)... along with wound spray. It is stated to even kill anthrax spores.

MSDS for Nixall here: http://www.greennowllc.com/wp-content/u ... 062012.pdf

Since regular chlorine bleach is a 5% solution of sodium hypochlorite, and hypochlorous acid is what you get when you dilute NaOCL in water, it looks like it's a 1:100 dilution of Clorox, right out of the jug, in 0.9%(normal) saline. $20/qt is awful high for a bottle of saline with 1/2 ml of Clorox in it.
No thanks, I'll save my $$$ and make my own dilute bleach wound irrigation solution.
Yes, chlorine bleach can kill anthrax spores - IF you get 2hrs contact time and no dilution.

I'm making my own also. A spray bottle costs about $1 at Wally World. I have everything else already. Bleach in the laundry room and baking soda in the pantry.
