United Nations to take over the Alamo

Help Support CattleToday:

There is a story circulating that Julian Castro, the mayor of San Antonio, is going to relinquish control of The Alamo to the UN. I would like to dispel the rumor and put the matter to bed. Castro is a progressive liberal, no doubt about it. But as a Texan, I can tell you that our precious Alamo is co-managed by The Texas General Land Office & The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. It is not affiliated with the National Park Service or any other federal entity. In other words, Castro is just blowing smoke. He has zero authority over The Alamo. Please share.

You are correct TB about the management.
If he ever tried there would be another battle on the river.
Wouldn't be the first by no means as several have been fought over that piece of ground.

Don't think those "powder blue" helmets and berets would be very welcome around the "hallowed ground". ;-)

Thanks TB and CB for the explanation. I watched Castro's speech at the Democrat convention. I imagine he has several "Che" t shirts in the drawer.
No one in the US, even outside TX, would let the Alamo go under the control of the UN.
Still, I'll bet the Parks Service spends a chunk of our money there. How about we relieve some of the taxpayer burden by searching out sponsors? The Frito-Lay Alamo has a ring to it, don't you think? "Come to the Mountains of Rushmore" sponsored by Busch Beer. "Old Faithful" presented by Viagra. In these times, budget wise, how can we resist.

The Angus and Brangus Associations can sponsor the monuments in the Black Hills of the Dakotas.

But, on their best day, and our worse, the blue beanies couldn't fight their way into or back out of Cleveland Tx, much less into Old Bexar.

Be easy to line up your sights on.
