We had 2 sets of twins this past year (cows are 1/2 sisters, same mother) and we are pleased with how well the cows raised them.

The 1st set was born Jan 4, 2012 and we sold July 11, 2012 and the steer calf weighed 730lbs and the heifer 650lbs for a total of 1380lbs

The 2nd set was born Jan 29th and we sold them August 1st and the steer calf weighed 710lbs and the heifer 600lbs for a total of 1310lbs.

Not bad for 2 cows raising 4 calves for total weight of 2690 lbs with both moms breeding back to calve in Jan 2013.

those 2 cows are money makers an heavy milkers to wean calves that heavy.an they are even better if they bred back in a timely manor.

They are good producers. They are 5 & 6 years old.

The cows mother was 1/2 Angus, 1/2 Gelbvieh cow that we sold when she was 19 and had calved every year.
Just started getting stiff and slow.

The 6 year old is out of a Gelbvieh Bull.
The 5 year old is out of a Simmental Bull.
and the sire of the twins is a 1/2 Angus, 1/2 Braunvieh bull.

Did I miss a photo? I would very much like to know more about Gelbvieh cross cows being good milkers...
