Texas Packing plant closes.

I heard on the radio today that a large "packing plant" near Dallas ?? was closing up shop. Over 1000 ( now that's a lot of employees no matter what your doing) lost. The spokesman cited a decline in available beef.....;(. That would be the first significant event that I know of that might be related to the low over all cow herd in the USA. 1000 lost jobs is pretty significant in my opinion. Anybody know more about this?
 
The plant is in the Tx panhandle about 75 miles south of Amarillo
They employ about 2000 people
They say they are going to Idle the plant and reopen when/if cattle numbers return
There are 4 major packers and numerous feed yards in the area
I would surmise the lack of feed stuffs grown in the area do to drought and the cost of shipping it in has factored in the number of cattle being fed in the area causing the drop in slaughter numbers, but I'm just a dumb hick so take that with a grain of salt
