Imo 243 is the perfect choice. Light recoil but will do the job adequately. You already have it.

cb thanks I appreciate it. they have a young day is like to take my kids on this year. I haven't got the gun situation resolved yet.

Don't rule out a good 30-30 either Remington makes a managed recoil load that has virtually no kick.
I know you have a 30-30 somewhere buy a box and try them.

I will do that..

I do have the .243 only issue is at home we can only use shotguns.. I can drive an hour away to a friends or go to our land in the mountains and use rifles and want them to use rifles as well as shotguns just shotguns are more convenient..
