Very well explained. Even "I" could understand. Thanks.
The plow is good to take water from place to place as long as we are talking shallow. Just have to make sure where you are taking the water is down hill from the source. If you do not have a level borrow or rent one. (Laser preferably.) Try to locate the path of least resistance. With a plow going through a 1 foot rise can be a lot of additional work. You can set some grade stakes up in order to get close to the elevation needed. Write on each stake what the elevation of the bottom of the ditch should be. Or pull a string wit a give measurement above the bottom of thew ditch. Say 3 feet. Then you can go along with a ruler and measure down at any point. The water is going to tell you where your highs and lows are but the level may save you a lot of time or needles work.Stocker Steve":21iakl2l said:My meadows test 7 to 10% organic matter and low 7s for ph. I dug a couple frog & duck ponds in the swales during a dry year, and now this water is flush to a couple feet below the surface. Sounds like I am perched up after it rained 29 of the 31 days in May.
I went into the NRCS office and asked to sign up for the ditching program. They were not sure what to say  so I bought a big 1 bottom breaking plow at an estate auction. Any tips on using this approach?
