Solar Power

I am interested in pumping water from a pond back to a barn. I was wondering if anyone was using solar panels for such a project?

Depends how many feet of head your pushing, if it's for summertime use only, etc.

petrol pump would be the usual option.

In theory I suppose solar should be able to do everything regular electricity does; would be interested to know how that translates into fact.

That is what I am working on also. According to my simple power requirements calculations, it should work. I will post my results after I get it set up.
