I am putting a bounty on the next one that crosses the state line.
It has now snowed here four times this year. I am convinced this is being hauled down
by Northern acquaintances that used to be friends.
You are not allowed to cross the state line unless you are hauling hay.
I have went through more hay this year than any other in my life per cow.

Can't believe most of it missed me again. Got some small blowing snow yesterday, then some sleet but no real accumulation. 17 degrees, 65% humidity and 20 mph wind early this morning. A good day to sit and catch up on my reading.

Drove the Mrs. over to Jasper this morning, you are not supposed to be driving through snow in East Texas!!!!

We had already had the "worst winter since....." Now they are going back even farther.

I had to go to Burnet yesterday. Worst part was Stephenville. Defrost blowing full speed and I was sweating. Ice on windshield steadily got worse all the way to Stephenville. Had to pull over and get water on the wiper arms. Truck doors were frozen shut. The whole time I was dreading the drive back. Weather was supposed to get worse. Drive back wasn't half as bad.

Boogie I think we need to send 30 to 45 days plus 100 degree days north this summer.
It is time for a reckoning.

CB I looked at the long range forecast today for the next 45 days and highs above 70s after today. But we all know the weather men are pathological liars.

Interesting- its just as if the winter roles switched this year and Old Man Winter decided to spend his winter in the south... ;-) up here in a part of the country that is usually Little Siberia, we've actually had a rather mellow winter... No great amount of snow (ground was bare until last night we picked up about an inch) and altho we had a couple cold spells of -20 to -30 temps, they were short periods and it warmed right up again...
Even the southern part of Montana that usually does not get that bad a winter or that much snow has had a tougher winter than we have...
Forecast is for 40's and 50's by the weekend which would be just perfect for when I'm supposed to start calving....

Need to do something. My thermometers say 30 and the dangest thunder and lightning storm I ever saw for this time of year and this temperature. No precip yet, but it's coming.. Off to the SW and seems to be moving NE toward Caustic.
Don't know if this will work or not:

Weather man keeps saying we are in a drought . My place is wetter than I've seen it in 5 years .this cold and wet sure hurts the cows . Luckly I have about two acres that looks like masonry sand and it stays fairly dry . I'm ready for spring for sure .

I moved some bales around today with the Ford, and cleaned out the old hay I had pushed into the barn for bedding, and was careful not to travel the same tracks twice. Not much water standing, but this ground is just floating. I think if I even started the old backhoe, it would sink just from the vibration. It isn't cold enough for the ground to freeze. Sleet has started.

I have more mouths eating this winter than I've had since 2010 but have fed more this past summer than I have this winter. Don't think I've fed as much as I did last winter either. Growing season for oats and ryegrass has been the best that it's been for years even with all the icy weather.

It was COLD yesterday morning with that stiff "breeze" we had. Didn't get above freezing till late afternoon. Everything above ground is iced up this morning. Haven't been out but the streets look OK it's just the over passes iced up.
