WE have cattle in our little town fairly regularly. Not a single calf on a halter. Generally 100+ pairs followed by people on horses and a few cow dogs. The wife said there was some doing that this morning. A man and his daughter on horses and another daughter on a quad. Knowing who it was I think he had 3 dogs along for the trip.
I have never seen them in downtown in Baker City but I have seen a herd of several hundred cows go down a busy main road on the edge of town on Sunday morning. Right past 3 churches, the hospital, several of the biggest businesses in town, housing developments, over a main line rail road tracks, and over a freeway overpass. Nobody here asks dumb questions about the cows. Just get to one side of the road and slowly drive through the herd. Or the tourists pull over and sit there slack jawed in amazement as the cows march by.
