Snake Salvation

Has anyone seen that show? Does anyone in here worship shakes in their church? It seems this show takes place in Tennessee. I am watching it now... and :shock:

Doesn't everybody? It happens in Virginia also. One church about 10 miles from me with a good attendance. They are good people and keep it pretty quiet. One guy I knew got bit at an Easter service a few years ago and would not go to the Dr and died that evening. But his father had been bit several times and died from a heart attack.

I will come down but as long as the attendees are not poisonous snakes im game lol I didn't know they did that here as well.

You bring that snake at me during church service figure I am dealing with a mad dog, the only cure for a mad dog is a bullet.

Every religion claims to be the most true and accurate religion. No one will really know until we die. For that very reason you won't hear me bash any religion. We may not understand all the nuances but who are we to judge and on what basis?

Kenny, I wrote my Master's Thesis on a subject in the realm of herpetology. I have handled and milked venom from copperheads and rattlesnakes including keeping live ones in my apartment when I attended college. I still have a keen interest in snakes and would very much like to attend a service where copperheads and rattlesnakes will be handled. PM me if you are serious. Since I first heard of the practice of handling serpents as confirmation that one's salvation protects them from the venom, I have wanted to witness it. I lived in Hazard, KY which is not far from you and I was confident it was occurring there but I was never able to witness it although I spent almost every Sunday going to Churches that people told me did handle snakes. I finally found a guy in Bell County who promised to take me to a Church in the Middlesboro area where they handled snakes. It was about that time that I was transferred to Denver, CO and it never happened. It is on my bucket list of things to do.

Strange what goes on under the heading of religion. The practice of faith handling including the drinking of poison has more foundation in scripture than some of the other practices. One of my nieces married and converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One of my brothers who counts himself a Christian, made some derogatory statements. Seems to have been my experience that One faith seems to always be bashing another. I guess God will sort it all out when the time comes.

Inversely, I thought it one of the dumbest movies I ever wasted my time on. Way too predictable.

That is the problem I always had. I think what you see on TV is often choreographed. But if you line us up, I will come!

In my opinion if you feel the need to do this snake salvation thing a person should live in my part of the world. There are no poison snakes here. By the age of 8 or 9 I had handled ever variety of snake available here. Use to pack them into the house to show Mom. She never did appreciate that too much.....

i think they would be better off, out spreading the word... instead of showing out in front of other believers... its not how high you fly, but how you land..around here if you aint one of them.. then they feel they can treat you like crap..

I agree with Wendy on this subject.......if the Lord commanded me to pick up a serpent then I surely would.....but he didn't and I ain't! Growing up I have attended many Pentecostal services and have enjoyed most of them. Some real good people. We went to a tent service one night back in the mid-70's. I was just 7 or 8 years old or so. About 3/4 of the way through the service the snakes were brought out. They were handling a 5ft timber rattler like it was a garter snake. We left as soon as we could get to the door. We heard later that they passed several rattlers and copperheads around and no one got bit. I am like CB.......snake comes out in church I am likely to be shootin :cboy:
