Has anyone seen that show? Does anyone in here worship shakes in their church? It seems this show takes place in Tennessee. I am watching it now... and

I've only heard of them being in the hills and mountainous areas. Must trace back to the people that originally settled those areas.

This fool said he got bit in the back of the head by a cottonmouth twice and was saying to a visitor yea that was a good service that day.... WTF - FOOOOOOOL

No, but I've seen a couple different 'documentaries' on this type religious affiliation. Neither cast the congregation in a good light. To each his own I guess, but God would have to do some serious speaking to me to get me to go that route, but I'll never question another's religous choice as long as it doesn't adversely affect those outside that choice.

oh yea... I don't question others religion I just question their sanity..
says the guy that posted the date night thread..
We had a date night just us we started out by riding my motorcycle and taking a few back roads checking our fields and row crops.. we met up with my best friend who in turn brought his wife on his bike and we decided to take a ride to wherever the women wanted to go which happened to be an hour away. My wife said do not go fast be careful and no wheelies lol I agreed with an evil grin on my face and looked at my friend. I couldnt wait till we got to the 3 mile long straight away on I-95 we were running about 70 or so and i started slowing down to about 55 in the fast lane dropped it to 2nd gear wife grabbed me tight she knew she was gonna be in for a ride and power wheelied the bike up switched it to 3rd gear and rode it for about half a mile like we use to do when we were younger before kids and i just knew she was gonna be fit to be tied when we stopped but surprisingly she had fun and asked to do it again I told her I thought she was getting old and I would have to trade her in for a younger model she looked at me like i was crazy... then replied go ahead get you a young girl that will take you to the cleaners lol When will I learn to keep my mouth shut lol :bang: Although when she asked how fast we were going on the way back I told her 80 which was a lie we were going 120 lol

They are here in KY. They arrested a couple several years ago when their child was bitten and died because they refused to seek treatment. The practice is most commonly associated with the Pentacostals and originates from a literal intrepretation of scripture that states that those who truly have faith/salvation shall pick up the serpent or drink poison. Some are said to drink ppison hemlock.

i noticed tonight one guy was in kentucky and one other guy was in tennessee.... all that reminds me of is Billy Jack the movie when he was bit by the rattle snake.

Mark 16:18
These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

The Bible portrays the snake as a crafty beast. I have seen images of the original snake that tricked Eve into eating from the forbidden tree its fruit. The snake is humanized with arms and legs but later as punishment God put the serpent upon its belly and away it did go. I think even though it does not say anywhere that he removed its intelligence, because they sure have a little brain, not much capacity for craft anymore. Who is authorized to create these images, I have often wondered. Portraits of Jesus are based on fabrication to my knowledge as no one has a picture of Jesus or God to base them on. I always thought I must look like Jesus. When I was little Dad would always yell at me when he didn't like what I was doing, "Jesus man, what did you do that for?"

Billy Jack. Quit possibly one of the best movies ever made. Me and my son watch it, and The Cowboys very regurally. I think I have every word in both memorized.

Inversely, I thought it one of the dumbest movies I ever wasted my time on. Way too predictable.
Damn hippies.

Strange what goes on under the heading of religion. The practice of faith handling including the drinking of poison has more foundation in scripture than some of the other practices. One of my nieces married and converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. One of my brothers who counts himself a Christian, made some derogatory statements. Seems to have been my experience that One faith seems to always be bashing another. I guess God will sort it all out when the time comes.

Doesn't everybody? It happens in Virginia also. One church about 10 miles from me with a good attendance. They are good people and keep it pretty quiet. One guy I knew got bit at an Easter service a few years ago and would not go to the Dr and died that evening. But his father had been bit several times and died from a heart attack.
Come on down skyhightree and I will introdce you to some of the attendees.
