Got a six week old heifer that is obviously not feeling well. I can tell it hasn't nursed in a day or two by looking at the mother's udder. The heifer stands in one spot and doesn't want to move- sometimes just lays down. She has been very healthy up to this point. At times she looks as though she is trying to pass her bowels, but nothing comes out. I flanked her and gave her an enema. Anyone ever heard of constipation in calves? Biggest worry is she isn't nursing. I'm sure it will lead to dehydration, eventually death. Any thoughts?

Todd, Call the vet ASAP, they can test her for different things. And Hydrate her with elctrolytes by bottle. dehydration will kill a calf sooner than anything.
