Shipping cost of semen

I just checked into buying semen on a couple of bulls and the shipping cost for 20 straws is $90 for 4 or 5 day delivery. Is this standard or is there a less expensive way to do it? I should say in this case, the company only offers two bulls I want to buy on. Is Reed cheaper?

Our semen storage facility charges $95 for tank rental and round trip UPS shipping with pick-up at destination within 3 days after arrival for return shipment. Shipment is insured. We pass that charge on to our buyers of seman also.

when we purchased semen in May, it was only 4 straws and shipping was $90. THey said it didn't matter how few or how many straws we purchased it was the same.
So from now on we will buy direct from the breeder/owner.

Shipping charges should strickly depend on distance if using FedEx or UPS. Yes, the number of straws in the shipper doesn't make any difference.
UPS cost to return a dry shipper back to my bull stud is about $15, but he's only about 70 miles away.
ABS & Genex does not charge shipping if you have a dealer in your area to deliver it.
I figure you need to purchase at least 10 units to justify the cost of the shipping.
For this reason, I bulk purchase semen every spring for our NY Simmental members (anywhere from 400 to 700 units). They can order semen from anyplace, it's all shipped in to me & everyone comes here for a meeting & pick up semen and we get great discounts. Shipping costs usually end up about $0.10/unit. Shipping charges will kill you if you pick 1 bull here & 1 bull there.
Try to find someone else in your area needing semen. Doesn't make any difference what breed, they will mix orders.

50 to 60 bucks. Depending on where you live. Maybe as high as 70 but I've never paid a 70 dollar shiping bill or charged one.
