If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now

Where you been. You was gone yesterdayl. Fishing must be good in Fla.

Grapefruit slowing down, beef picking up. All but 1 calves on the ground. Fertilizer and sod seeding. Weekdays in the grapefruit (with my DSL connection), nights and weekends on the ranch (with no connection). Glad to be back to talk with you guys, but I gotta tell you I'd rather be messin with my cows than shipping grapefruit!

Huge waves right now. Fishing good, if you can survive the trip. Several drownings in the last few weeks due to rip currents. I'm waiting on March to go "out like a lamb" to try my luck at dolphin (mahi mahi) and the cobia should be running too.

Specks are running heading for the bay. There is nothing like 5 to 7 pound speckled trout. I am jealous can't compete with the Keys.

Keys are awesome but I'm about 3 hours North of there. We're set up to go for a week in July. My 2 sons are certified divers now and were gonna check out some wrecks and a few coral walls. Troll the Islamorada hump with ballyhoo. Other than that I'm gonna rehearse for Corona commercials.

I can relate my son in USAF is coming home on leave in a couple of weeks, boats ready to go tear up specks and reds. Good luck and be safe.

Never mind I just saw one of his posts, I really think he has somethin' against me, and I don't mean an arguement or diasagreement I mean he just out and out don't like me.

LOL...Little perspective on this "ancient" thread...

If on the same day you bought $1000 worth (and kept)

Amazon would be worth $117,726.16
Apple 569,960.97
Microsoft 12,338.75
Costco 15,083.47
Netflix 364,588.49

So $5,000 invested March 28, 2003 would now be worth $1,079,697.48 (barring any miscalculations on my part).

Good point.

I don't recognize any of the participants in this thread prior to your post Vette.

But what if you put $5,000 into cattle? Should have a huge herd by now.

I'm not good enough with numbers to figure that one out…but doubt putting $5000 in cattle and ignore them for 18 years would be a good idea.

It would be interesting knowing what you could have under different management programs.

I couldn't find 2004 data for Anhueser-Busch (BUD)
But $1,000 invested in 2009 would be worth $1,502 today

A couple of random 2004 blue chips

$1,000 in Coca-Cola March 31 2004 with dividends reinvested = 2,792 today
it's value bottomed at $812 in 2008

3M March 31 2004 $1,000 -low $555 2/27/ 2009- today = 2,616

$1,000 in Ford 3/31/2004 today = 1,083

$1,000 of gold 3/31/2004 today = 2,987
$1,000 of silver 3/31/2004 today = 2,789
