Red vs Black Angus at the market

Help Support CattleToday:

If the name isn't mentioned around here, then the buyers are a bit weary or gun shy. Up here ranchers get a repuation and a good reputation will sell the calves themselves, and without saying whose calves they are, you will never get that reputation for yourself.

As calves come in, the shot record is read, stated if they are natural, source and age tagged, whose they are, if they have the info, how the calves have performed in the past, and sometimes, who they buy their bulls from.

Guess a blind man could be a buyer in that area. Unless they first baffled him with :bs:

Be good if that happened around here, but it doesn't. We are beginning to see at least a one barn tell if a bunch of calves are weaned and vacinated. Hope to see it change more in the future.

The reputation goes both ways, if you get a bad one, then they will stay away and you will get docked. The bigger barns will sell 6000 or more cattle at one sale. So the buyers need to be able to sort through the calves on record as well as .
