Last year we set up 24 cows for ET out of the 24 the Doc used 23 we palpated all of the cows but not early enough to determin for sure if the calf was an ET or out of the herd bull. Needless to say we have been excited for the due date to arrive. So the due date is Monday so far we have the following ET calves on the ground.

Coleman Blackcap 991 Reg# 16370014 X Coleman Regis Reg# 16364797 1 Heifer 3 Bulls (all 4 eggs took)

Ambrose Erica A47 Reg#13756009 X Boyd New Day 8005 Reg 13050780 4 bulls (one DOA) (put in eight)

Sinclair Eriskay 2N1 Reg#14311816 X Coleman Foundation Reg 16359293 2 Heifers (put in 4 eggs)

RB Bridget 658 C11 111 Reg 14913872 X S A V Final Answer 0035 Reg#13592905 3 bulls (put in 6 eggs)

We put in one #3 egg out of our old 065 cow and our herd bull 6149 but unless the recip gets busy I don't think we are going to get a calf out of that mating. I will be putting some of her eggs in out of our 6149 bull and a flush out of 0035 this coming year. The A47 cow that we have been flushing tested DDC so I won't be flushing her again. I will however be putting her eggs in and testing the calves and hope for the best. S

Needless to say so far it looks like we are going to do ok with the ET's and heck they aren't due yet lol.

I think we are in for a busy weekend here at Gizmo Angus.

good luck calving your recip cows.i had to say how meny recip cows a buddy of mine uses every year.

3 heifers to 10 bulls! I have a theory, but have never researched it. Were all the eggs number 1's?
Here is my thought:
Number two eggs are usually put in fresh, and result in more heifer pregnancies. Number one eggs are usually frozen, because they are the best. However, they seem to be bulls most of the time. I wonder if the bull embryos develop just a bit faster than the female embryos, thus getting a better score at collection? We have put in 8 embryos so far (we just started heavy embryo work last year), and out of those 8 only two have been heifers. Your numbers look about the same. If I had a bunch of extra time, it would be something I would research further.

Good luck with the rest of your calving!!!
