Have a young (350 lb.) heifer calf with it's second rectal prolapse in 4 weeks. It is still nursing the cow and getting whatever alfalfa hay or SS balage it wants. What are the odds that it will keep happening if corrected?

I would ship her while you can. Count your blessings you caught it early enough both times that it hasn't had any major frostbite damage (assuming your cold enough for that too happen). I can guarantee what happens then, and the odds would not be in your favor.

Money in the bank beats a hole in the ground any day.

Manure is a little dryer than I prefer, but not terrible. Vet figured it just got squished between a couple cows or something the first time.

PVC pipe and a calcrate band will fix it if it happens again. I had to do that on a big steer one time that prolapsed 3 times. vet cut a piece of PVC, stuck it in there and then cranked the band around it flush with where it should've been and in about a week, he had a new functioning back door. Shortly after, he was in my freezer. Good eating!
