PRLR-Slick cattle have been gene-edited to add short-hair coat trait aka slick coat.

The science is neat, but I'm wondering how practical it is. Some cattle breeds just work better than others in certain climates. What genomic alterations do you want to see in cattle? Might be neat to go back in time and add the polled gene to cattle breeds without breeding them to Angus.

There's already plenty of slick haired cattle of most major breeds out there. Why not just use them?

Does that mean they have to be labeled as GMO?

I'm sure it's already happening more than we know but I don't like the idea of man messing with genetic code. Lots of damage can be done with the best of intentions.
