Prime beef

Can you look at a steak and know it's prime?

The uneducated eye probably can;t. Since prime/choice/etc is based on the ammount of marbling the ability to judge it is there, it's just the ability that is lacking.
By the time a steak is getting towrds the upper end of choice and prime they look too fatty to me. I like marbling but I prefer meat to fat
