Organic Bloat Prevention

Hey there, I'm brand new to all of this and my employer is too. He's tasked me with trying to find organic ways to prevent bloating in his cows due to one of his pastures being an alfalfa grass mix. We aren't going to put them in there with out a couple of cuttings done on it first. Just looking to see what organic people do and use instead of poloxalene.

Sodium bicarbonate (Baking soda). You can get it in blocks or loose.

Get the loose and mix it in with your minerals. If the organic doesn't allow minerals, get loose salt to mix it with and take away any salt blocks you might have.

Might want to also think about inter-seeding more grass into the pasture to balance the diet. Preferably a diverse mix of no fewer than 5 species. The more diverse your grass mix the better it will be

Would a hi mag mineral help him? Or is there not enough Mg to work?

Let the field mature and turn them in with a full belly.

I would also use temporary fencing to only give them a limited area to choose from. I once turned 30 cows into a fresh field one evening, had 29 live cows the next morning. One laid feet up in the middle of a clover patch.

I would suspect that after 2 cuttings it won't be a lotnof problems anyway.but baking soda is very cheap
