Yesterday's calf. Around 100lbs I would guess.


And had two heifers calving this morning.


Both bull calves. The first is 75% blonde, 297 days gestation. The second is sired by charolais, out of limxbluexcharx heifer, 282 days gestation. Both similar size, 110+lbs for sure. Assisted for obvious reason.

Finaly got a shot of the blonde calf standing.

All calves are doing great and nursing. All heifers are doing a real nice job so far raising their calves. Only two heifers left to calve. One on the 290th day, another on the 283rd day.

So far heifers' calves are growing well.

75% bazadaise calf. Real interested to see how he turns out.

The only heifer from heifers so far this year. Half sister to our young pure lim bull calf. 16 days old.

It's really a hard season for us here. One of the last two heifers was calving today. Backward calf... Alive at first, already dead when got him out..

293 days gestation, bull calf. Real pitty. Only one heifer and 13 cows left to calve thankfully.

Bummer. You sure have had a run of bulls on your heifers! That always increases the probability of dystocia.

It does look that the last one will have a bull calf as well. That's the first for us, that a group of heifers would have just one gender of calves. I always wish that they had more heifers just for the easier calving.
The dead calf is 106lbs. Will try to give one of the twins for his dam.

The heifer calved today. 289 days gestation, charolais sired calf, charx heifer herself.

Heifer calf! So final result is two heifers from 9 calves from heifers. Gonna count other stats abit later. Average birth weight was around 110lbs I'm pretty sure.

Have you ever had any interest in trying to influence the sex of your calves through dietary changes before breeding?

Not really. That wouldn't be very possible to do when heifers are bred in summer while grazing. Gonna use a bit of sexed straws for the next season though.

Got a better shot of the heifer. She is around 80% charolais. I guess her greatgranddam being herefordx played a role in her having some white markings instead of being white
