I assume two pulses in the same wire could be too much of a good thing. Connecting to two different wires sounds like a belt and suspenders approach.
 
I run solar's as well.
I have multiple charger's on my fence's each running a different hot wire.
Each hot has a Patriot warning lite on each hot so , I just look at the light if it flashes I know I have the one not functioning. I have a pair of jumper's to connect to the hot that is down if I can't trouble shoot the problem quickly or the battery has went dead. You should only have the one charger working the fence at one time according to everything I read not sure why. I always'disconnect one if the hot's are thighed together.
