Milkmaid

Dang I missed it, and I really appreciate irreverant humor. I like to think that God has a sense of humor. He made the Wildebeast and the weiner dog...

Just as an observation I don't know of one instance in the Old or New Testament that is in any way, humorous .This is something I've thought some about . Every year our church has Holy Humor Sunday .
I'm not for it, I'm not against it .Logically I would assume that God has a sense of humor, but to my knowledge there is noting in scripture that supports the idea .

Come on Larry. Do you really want a verse that is a joke. Humorverbs 3:2, "And from the heavens God spoke. "There was this blond sitting in bar..." or "What did the virgin say to the eunuch?" I'm just saying. What kind of humorous thing would be appropriate in the Bible. "There was this leper that was fishing one morning". It just doesn't fit right. Just poking fun. ;-)

I pulled it off... got to wondering all of a sudden if it fell into the catagory of politics (which it was, sorta, but it was funny from anyone's point of view!), and I know Macon doesn't like politics on the board.

POLITICS!!!!!!!!! YA THINK??????

Yes Milkmaid it might have just edged into the political just a little bit. On the other hand it might just be the greatest piece of political satire I have ever read. Thank you for that priviledge. Agree or not, it took a heckofa mind to put that together and in a world of dumba$$es, it was certainly a nice piece of intelligence for a change.

Me, too. After all, most of us have one and we were created in His image. What a terrible world this would be if we didn't have the ability to laugh.

I am pleased that those of you I recognize to be republican are entertained by this writing.
It displays your comprehension of this piece as the joke it really is.

Larry there is "nothing in scripture" to support a lot of things. Does that make them wrong ?? Scripture incomplete?? You tell me... Holy Humor Sunday? Guess nobody shows up for that either since it's not in scripture. You can't limit everything to scripture nor can you limit the message in scripture. Maybe sometimes you just miss the real meaning. You think Samson really killed a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of an a$$? I do know that in sales a thousands of sales are killed each day with the same weapon. :lol2: :lol2:

What are you expecting, a joke? There's a lot of humor hidden in the Bible... mostly the humor is in what God put in the Bible. For instance, the king who was in the middle of a battle, about to take over a certain tower, and a woman drops a millstone down on this guy. That in itself isn't funny... but the king's reaction is hilarious. Evidently it was a fatal injury, for he turns to the guy next to him and says "quick, kill me so no one can say that a woman killed me." :lol2: T'was all he worried about, and it's immortalized in the pages of Scripture. Men! :P

I have no knowledge of what a millstone might have been in those times. I have seen a few millstones around here, from pioneer days, and if a woman picked one of those suckers up, I would die of shock before she dropped it on me. I imagine it took about six to maneuver one of those around.

Where did I say anything about anything being wrong?

Scripture incomplete??
I beleive the Bible to be complete and true .
You tell me... Holy Humor Sunday? Guess nobody shows up for that either since it's not in scripture.
I think probably more show up for it, there are always those in any church that want to draw attention to themselves and that is usually an excellent opportunity .
You can't limit everything to scripture nor can you limit the message in scripture.
If the doctrine of your church is not based in scripture, then what do they base it in ?

Well, I guess if you find that funny, then it is . I would call it more ironic than anything . I am interested though in more, you say "There's a lot of humor in the Bible" and if you could give me the book and chapter . If I'm wrong then I'm wrong . I've read the Bible from cover to cover and I continue on a daily basis to read and study it and I just don't remember any of it striking me as funny .I am starting to worry now, how many of us when we stand before the judgement seat of Christ will be told "you just were not funny enough".

Not that I have anything against a good discussion about the Bible, but maybe I ought to PM you since I think we're getting way off topic now...

and politics and religion on the same post? MM's going to get herself banned. :lol2: :P

Can someone explain what this has to do with political satire?
I guess it was kind of unusual the way the piece was written. I made a few comments that seemed to draw some fire, I've just been trying to explain what I wrote . I read the piece and find it very clever.
I really didn't think I said anything contoversial, just a few simple observations .
