I built or am building a shed off my barn. I aquired some metal roof trusses and set them on 6x6 posts and off of the existing post in the barn. I picked up some metal zee purlins and though I have never put any up I suppose you stand them on end and either bolt or weld them to the trusses?

welds will break with wind movement of your building. You should use bolts or rivets.Good luck.

Good welds will hold, proper bracing will prevent most movement. Bolts are good and faster (with predrilled holes), riviets are old school.

The top and bottom purlins should be C chanel bent to the pitch of the roof. That is for a shed roof. On a gable only the bottom needs to be C channel bent to the pitch of the roof.
