Staying in Childress TX tonight. Anyone near here?

A neighbor yesterday visiting her son south of Dallas flew out of DFW on the way home. She said it was 101 temp when she left there. How does the higher heat compare there to the high humidity heat of the mountains of VA without the added fire heat? I went by your house yesterday and that part of the country, didn't see any cattle out and everything still looks the same. :) We got 2" of rain yesterday, last night and the weeds are growing good. PM or call if you need anything as I can be to your house in 10-15 minutes.

It's hot for sure. 96 at the fire yesterday. I'm getting used to it now. Today is my last day here but have to drive a fire truck back so it will take a couple days.

Kenny you are back in country I know. We have had enough rains to keep going but still haven't grown much grass on the areas that burned. Got the fence built back but like everyone else waiting to put cattle back on the areas that burned. Got a good rain this morning early. Really needed it. Will be retiring in Nov so you are ever in our area again give us a holler. Be careful driving home. It is a long ways.

Goodbye Texans. Just stopped for the night at exit 1 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Everyone in TX was really nice but time to go home for a few days. Thanks for the hospitality.

Kenny I know they appreciated your work just like we did when you were in our area. Have safe travels home.

Old post but new fires. I'm not with them but we're sending a crew from VA to TX . They are in Knoxville TN tonight. Driving to Fredricksburg, TX and then 2 hours west of there. Don't have a town name yet. Who is near there?

No one, the Comanche didn’t even want that!

And it's a crew with hand tools. Unless they match them up with dozers or engines I can't imagine they can do much.

Stay safe Kenny!

Thanks but that was an old post I revived. Our crew is going but not me, yet.
One crew member is in Casper WY loading fire retardant on airplanes that are dropping on fires in Wyoming and Colorado.

According to the Texas Wildfire Map, the newest fire 2 hrs West of Fredericksburg is Ozona in Val Verde County.

Crew is stopping in Tyler TX tonight. Heading to Uvalde tomorrow looks like.

Tyler is a very nice area of the state.
Lot better than where their heading IMO.
I told them to go by Buc-ees but forgot Tyler doesn't have one. At least they will look for one.
Uvalde area is one part I have not worked or traveled to.

There's nothing I enjoy more than flying past a buc-ees with my mother in law in the car. Then stopping at some little two pump dive.
Makes her mad as hell....
