I know absolutely nothing about masons except some of the founders of our country were Mason's. But I spent years in the LDS church while my kids were growing up, non active now. Someone a few years ago started a thread on Mormons and I was really surprised at the amount of misunderstanding and misconceptions there was about Mormons, how far off base some folks on Mormon practices are. I can understand how this might happen to other groups who keep things "close to the vest".

We are in grave danger of getting into trouble. But that is what adds some spice to CT.

I lived in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana from 1980 until 2010. I formed friendships with many LDS followers. Even had one very close friend who would come over and put me to sleep about twice a year advocating for my soul. His intentions were good but I swear, I could not stay awake long enough to hear it all.

I have some LDS friends on my Facebook. I treasure their friendship. They are not as hypocritical as mainstream Christians. Sorry, I know that offends many but that was my observation.

I am also a Mason, although I admit I'm not active. TB, my understanding is that Catholics can't keep secrets from the Pope, therefore if he asked you you'd have to give up some secrets.

Not really true but certainly might be what the Grand Lodge might teach. I hear the pro's and con's of masonry all the time but still see nothing about it for anyone to fear. Heck all the so called secrets can now be found online. Amazing too that so many people have somewhat strange thoughts about Masons but at the same time praise Scottish Rite Hospitals and Shriners hospitals. Apparently they don't know that you have to be a Master Mason to be a Scottish Rite Mason and then a Shriner. All of them are Masons.

Slick I didn't think I'd ever get that stupendous edifice built in that 1st degree. Too a week to learn to pronounce it.

My info came out of my lodge only. No idea of the Grand Lodge's opinion on that. Funny, but I've seen those video's telling the secrets of the lodge and laugh because if most people knew the actual ones they'd be pretty disappointed. And... that goat riding thing wasn't so bad :lol:

Dennis, my Uncle Bill told me that. He would not show me the handshake. He is long gone. Died in 1997. Was born in the 1910s. Like 1906. He fought in WWII. Was all over the Pacific. Landed on Japan after the bomb.

I don't know any thing about Masons but my general thought on any group of people is the larger the group the crazier they get. I don't care if its a group of people playing golf, a fair association, a church, a city or even a government. They all start with good intensions and go south from there.

Have no concept of what Mason Society entails. My only experience was mid 60's with great uncle and aunt. They both became disabled and was placed in Masonic retirement home, Montgomery, Al. Visited many times and can say today's assisted living, or nursing home would fail terribly compared to their care . This couple had no children and progressed thru all the phases, saw that so cant fault what this society does.

When I was a yonker and raised catholic, the catholics hated the masons (the were godless heathens) and the catholics hated the mormons (more godless heathens) Since i didn;t know any mormons or masons I don;t know how they felt about catholics. But at that point in time, everyone but catholics were godless heathens according to the catholics. All excpet the lutherns, they were heretics

The Masons believe that one deity is all deities, all deities and religions of the world are equal, so that is why strong denominations disclaim it. Most presidents have been masons and if you watch, a lot of folks have the mason stickers or glue-ons on the back of their cars. Apparently they feel that a policeman who is a mason will overlook their offences since they are fellow masons. Supposedly masons can recognize each other without a handshake but also by the handshake. I think I have the non-handshake figured out. Too much secretive, male symbols, rituals and foolishness to be more than an organization to link folks together as a source of connections and power.

You can read up on the group in a book, "Kingdom of the Cults". I am sure that there are other books and information, too.

Sounds like Voodoo to me. I like it. I wonder if they sacrifice. I won't read the book, I'll wait for the Movie - on disc. Movie theatres here have bed bugs.
