Has anyone else ever had a broodmare with mastitis.I have raised probably 50 or 60 babies or so and I have never had a mare get mastitis until now.The mare is about a week past due and should go about another week at least maybe longer to give her more time to clear up. I know I can't let the foal nurse from the mare.My vet yesterday put her on NAXCEL and told me to try and milk her once a day but that is a job in it self and I have to take a sample to the vet everyday and let them check it.I am also trying to find me some colostrum for the baby also.Anyone else have any suggestions for mastitis?
