I have a 1400# Chi/Angus cow we crossed on a Shorthorn/Lowline Bull hoping to shorten the calf's body. Our cow is really long. I was wondering will the calf take mom's traits or will the lowline take over. The baby weighed about 65# at birth, but she is very thick boned. Also when it comes time to breed her do we cross her with a very low birth weight bull? We are trying to breed for 4-H calves. We were hoping for a bull calf this year, but got a heifer. We are going to breed our 2 heifers and the cow back to the bull and keep our fingers crossed for bull calves.
